CEV President - Solidarity, unity, mutual support help grow Volleyball further
News from the CEV

Paris, France, September 28, 2019. The XL CEV General Assembly held on Friday in Paris provided Europe’s Volleyball family with an opportunity to look back at the many great achievements of the past year, while strengthening cohesion and unity to make sure that innovation and modernisation remain key words at the core of all activities and programmes. “We have witnessed much progress and positive developments, but we can do more,” CEV President Aleksandar Boričić said. “It is important to maintain this sense of solidarity, unity, and mutual support if we wish to grow even further.”

The delegates representing 50 National Federations enjoyed listening to some inspiring presentations. These reviewed revolutionary actions such as the organisation of the historic CEV Champions League Volley Super Finals in Berlin, the delivery of EuroVolley 2019 in as many as 8 countries, the implementation of a ‘digital revolution’ and the promotion of the sport at the grassroots level with the help of the EU-funded School Project.

The CEV President reminded the audience that the CEV extended this past August their long-lasting partnership with Japanese ball supplier Mikasa for another four years, i.e. up to 2024. The agreement includes the provision of 25,000 balls per year making sure that as many youngsters as possible across the whole of Europe can discover Volleyball and play the game, especially at school during their physical education classes.

Representatives of 50 National Federations attended the XL CEV General Assembly in Paris.

Moreover, the CEV President emphasised the importance of working on solid partnerships that can maximise the income for the Volleyball family resulting from media, betting and marketing rights, while sharing positive insights into the extensive coverage of EuroVolley provided by both traditional and digital media.

“I invite all of you to keep and spread this positive energy and help us support all those who invest and want to be a part of our activities,” the CEV President said. “We are one Volleyball team, one Volleyball family and only as such we can achieve further success.”

The 2020 edition of the CEV General Assembly – including elections for all CEV bodies – will be taking place on June 19, 2020 in Russia’s capital, Moscow.
