Polish Prime Minister praises international success of White-and-Reds
News from the National Federations

Warsaw, Poland, October 9, 2019. On Wednesday morning, the highest-ranking representatives of the Polish Volleyball Federation (PVF) had the privilege of a meeting with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Chancellery in Warsaw. President Jacek Kasprzyk and Vice-President Ryszard Czarnecki represented the Polish Volleyball Federation on the occasion. “Thank you for the joy given to us by the Volleyball players,” said the Prime Minister, congratulating the athletes on all their recent achievements.

The meeting was also an opportunity to thank the Prime Minister for the support given to Polish Volleyball. PM Morawiecki presented Poland Men’s National Team with a special financial award following their second World Championship title which they won last year and has allocated additional financial support to the PVF for the preparation and participation of the national teams in the 2019 season tournaments, as well as for the organisation of the key sporting events this year. The Polish government is also supporting the PVF’s biggest grassroots Volleyball project.

“When our Volleyball teams are winning, all of us Poles grow wings. I want to congratulate them on all their successes. They all bode well for the future of Polish Volleyball. It is a great joy for all people in Poland. We will for sure keep investing in the support for Polish athletes. I am glad that we could have at least a little share in this success and help them. These achievements are a pride of Polish sport but also a pride of all the Polish people,” said PM Morawiecki.

Poland Men’s National Team won a bronze medal at the recent EuroVolley. It is another big success of the white-and-red team this season, following a Volleyball Nations League bronze, 1st place at the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Gdansk, which secured their participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and a silver medal at the Universiade. The women’s team also had a great season, advancing to the VNL Final Six and finishing their EuroVolley journey in fourth place – their best result in many years.

“The least we can do is to say ‘thank you’. Thank you for the airplane, which ultimately saved us the bronze medal at the European Championship. Thank you for the support last year after the World Championship. It all brings profit this year, which might be the best ever, even if we do not have any gold this season, we already have three medals by men and the EuroVolley 4th place by our women, after the rebuilding of their team. It is really important to us,” said PVF President Kasprzyk.
