EuroVolley a tremendous success as CEV looks forward to making history again
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, October 24, 2019. “It is only a few weeks since a truly historic EuroVolley 2019 reached its climax in Ankara and Paris and we can proudly say that the delivery of this competition has opened a new era for our Volleyball family! This is not a slogan, but a fact and the figures further cement the positive impressions we collected as this huge Volleyball party unfolded across as many as eight countries and with participation of 24 teams per gender for the first time in history,” CEV President Aleksandar Boričić says.

Almost half a million people attended the matches at the EuroVolley venues, and a lot more could follow the competition through the live streaming and the broadcasting available in more than 150 countries across the globe.

The media resonance of the event is truly unprecedented. According to the latest figures, online media published as many as 14,126 articles on EuroVolley, thus generating a terrific 9.5 billion potential media contacts! What is even more relevant is the advertising value resulting from such tremendous online media exposure, which stands at € 77.8 million!

Volleyball fans took to social media to share their EuroVolley experience, with almost 35,000 online posts dealing with the Volleyball-mania that was triggered across the continent and even overseas, these resulting in 539 million potential media contacts.

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić is rightfully proud of the new era he has ushered in for European Volleyball

These numbers confirm that the CEV leadership’s vision to venture into something never done before in Volleyball history is paying dividends. This vision has taken Volleyball to the next level in many ways, from the event experience to the media exposure, from the TV coverage to the full houses witnessed in places as diverse as Ankara and Paris, Ljubljana and Bratislava, Brussels and Budapest, Rotterdam and Lodz!

“We certainly do not stop here, since our wish is to capitalise on the success of EuroVolley and of the CEV Champions League Super Finals held this past May in Berlin. This exciting journey for our Volleyball family will resume and continue later this week in Sofia, as the Bulgarian capital city plays host to the CEV European Volleyball Gala 2019 and to the eagerly anticipated Drawing of Lots for the group stage of the CEV Champions League Volley 2020,” the CEV President adds.

“We look forward to re-writing Volleyball history again and we will do so by working closely together with all members of our outstanding European Volleyball team,” he concludes.
