U19 Beach Volleyball national champions crowned in Armenia

Yerevan, Armenia, June 28, 2020. The second of three age-group Beach Volleyball national championships – this time open to U19 players – took place earlier this week in Yerevan with participation of 14 men’s and seven women’s teams. Despite restrictions still in place to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Volleyball Federation of Armenia was able to deliver the event while respecting all the necessary precautions and guidelines to safeguard the well-being of players, officials and all involved.

The event held in Yerevan featured teams from the Armenian capital as well as from other regions of the Caucasus country and ran from June 23 to 27, thus accounting for five competition days and as many as 43 matches, with many of these developing into close and dramatic battles.

As many as 21 teams featured in the U19 tournament held earlier this week in the Armenian capital, Yerevan

After securing gold in the U18 competition a week ago, Team Avan (Poghosyan/Melkumyan) from Yerevan emerged victorious from the U19 tournament as well, with Team Avan-2 and Team Geghashen settling for second and third place, respectively.

Team Arabkir (Asmaryan/Ghasaboghlyan) were the eventual winners of the men’s competition, after last week, while competing as Team CSKA, they had finished second in the U18 event. Team KhMOMM and Team Gyumri completed the podium, after securing the second and third place in the final standing.
