Board of Administration analyzes applications for future major events

Ljubljana, Slovenia, October 14, 2010. With only a couple of days still to go before the opening of the XXXI CEV General Assembly, the CEV Board of Administration resumed this afternoon at the Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana for this year’s third working session. The Board was extremely pleased to ascertain - once again - the very good financial management and state of the European Confederation, with the 2009 accounts having been closed with a remarkable surplus.
Starting from these positive figures and with the right boost descending from additional recent developments, the Board is looking forward to conveying to the Congress the outstanding sport and organizational performances that CEV has recently attained. In presence of FIVB President, Mr. Jizhong Wei, and of the highest-ranked authorities of the hosting country, Slovenia, CEV President André Meyer will be chairing the General Assembly focusing there on the reports of the various Commissions, Zonal Associations as well as of the organizers of the next major events to be staged in 2011.
However, the General Assembly won’t be only recapping the latest positives, but also take over quite a few challenges that the European Confederation is eagerly looking forward to tackling with in the near future.
The real climax of the General Assembly will come on Saturday afternoon where the organizers of all future major events coming up in 2012 and 2013 will be officially announced after an evaluation process that finished this afternoon as a bunch of presentations coming from the various applicants were carried out in front of the Board of Administration.
Future events to be allotted are:
- 2012 CEV Junior European Championship – Men (joint application from Poland and Denmark);
- 2012 CEV Junior European Championship – Women (Turkey);
- 2013 CEV European Championship – Men (two joint bids running for the allotment, i.e. Estonia/Finland and Denmark/Poland);
- 2013 CEV European Championship – Women, with another joint application received from Germany and Switzerland.
All presentations were highly appreciated by the Board of Administration that really enjoyed the passion and devotion having been displayed by all applicants as they did their best to finalize their respective dossiers and working files.
