With the latest additions to the programme, the number of Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures due to take place in Europe throughout the year 2022 has risen to as many as 21!

Beach Volleyball players can look forward to even more opportunities to compete on the international stage – with tournaments in Belgium, Poland, France and the Netherlands now added to what looks like a truly exciting season ahead!

After delivering a 1-Star World Tour event for the very first time in 2021, the Belgian city of Leuven will welcome back international teams for the second straight year, with a double-gender Futures due to run at the local main square from July 21 to 24, 2022. Last year, home heroes Dries Koekelkoren and Tom van Walle triumphed on home soil shortly before announcing the end of their competitive careers. This time around, Koekelkoren is heavily involved in the organisation of the tournament, as former partner van Walle is busy coaching young promising Belgian Beach Volleyball players.

The following week, and more specifically from July 28 to 31, an international Beach Volleyball competition will return for the first time since a number of years to Myslowice. The city in southern Poland is actually a place very well-known to the Beach Volleyball community, since it did host many World Tour events as well as several age-group World and European Championships. Myslowice joins Poland’s capital city Warsaw and Bialystok – with the number of Futures due to take place in Poland now up to four, since Warsaw will be hosting an additional, men’s-only competition from September 1-4, 2022.

Speaking of places that have already established themselves on the international Beach Volleyball map, Montpellier certainly is one of such ‘hotspots’ – and men’s teams will return to compete in the south of France later this summer as well, with the event due to run from August 24 to 28, as French teams step up their preparations to secure a much coveted spot at the eagerly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics.

To cap off the year with a bang, the last event of 2022 will be taking place in The Hague (Netherlands) from December 28 to 31 – with the top teams contesting the gold medal matches shortly before they celebrate with organisers and fans alike the dawn of the year 2023. The competition will run at the state-of-the-art Zuiderpark venue – obviously indoors at that time of the year – thus following the successful event delivered by the Dutch Volleyball Federation and a local promoter in January 2019 at the very same venue.

There is no doubt that 2022 will be a year filled with opportunities for up-and-coming and more established teams as well! The season is due to get underway in a month and a half or so with the first Beach Pro Tour Futures in Spanish capital Madrid.
