All female crew oversees Geneva Future men’s final
News
Something pretty unusual happened on Sunday in Geneva when the Men’s Beach Pro Tour Futures reached its climax with a final entirely staffed by women. The group included CEV Technical Delegate Alexandra Smith, Referee Manager Gaia Porcelli, the first and second referees, all line judges, scorers and statisticians, plus the DJ and the courtside doctor.
The only males involved in the game were (obviously) the four athletes and the announcer (and broadcast). The competition held in Geneva concluded with Belgium’s Gilles and Louis Vandecaveye claiming top honours after they beat Italy’s Marco Ulisse and Giacomo Spadoni (21-18, 21-12) in the final match, with another Italian team – Tiziano Andreatta and Raoul Acerbi – completing the podium. Ulisse and Spadoni had reached the final stage of the tournament after starting their journey from the qualification round.
