Beach Pro Tour Futures kickstarts its European run in Madrid
News
Madrid becomes the first European stop in this year’s Beach Pro Tour Futures adventure with the men’s competition starting on Thursday and ending on May 10. The women’s competition will commence next week from May 14 and conclude on May 17. In between both events, Madrid will keep on being the epicentre of Beach Volleyball by hosting the CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup 2026 preliminary phase as well.
This is Madrid’s sixth time hosting the Pro Tour event. On Thursday morning, in the Futures’ inauguration, Alberto Tomé, General Director of the Comunidad de Madrid, highlighted the importance of the competition for the local area. He also noted the huge response from the public, represented in the over 300 volunteers collaborating with the Madrid Volleyball Federation in the organisation of the event.
Felipe Pascual, President of the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation, which co-organises the competition, has put the focus on the consolidation of an event that has become a staple for both Spanish and European Beach Volleyball.
The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour is the reference competition in the discipline worldwide. The Madrid stage presents the perfect mix between young European talents and more established pairs coming from all over the world. The format of this year’s competition, as usual, starts with a preliminary qualification round. Afterwards, the direct elimination system will lead onto the semi-finals and finals on Sunday.
