The fourth edition of the CEV Beach Volley European Cup is due to reach its climax later this week in Alanya, Türkiye, where eight clubs per gender will contest the competition that caps a season that started months ago with multiple domestic events and continued with the preliminary phase contested in late September and early October. The winners of the 2025 edition, Ré Beach Club (France) and Sunrise Beach Sports Academy (UKR) return to defend the titles they claimed last year in Heraklion.

The event takes place in Alanya, a renowned destination for major Beach Volleyball competitions

Ré Beach Club did spring a sensation last year in Crete – and yet they will face tough opposition if they are to retain their crown, especially from Scherp in Packaging ZVH of the Netherlands, whose roster includes some members of the international Beach Volleyball elite such as Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot. Boermans competed this season with former world champion Alexander Brouwer, finishing fifth at the Elite 16 in Hamburg and ninth at EuroBeachVolley in Poland. His former partner De Groot spent the 2026 season playing alongside Steven van de Velde – with whom he reach the quarterfinals at EuroBeachVolley, securing fifth place in Stare Jablonki. The roster of the Dutch team includes other well-established names such as Quinten Groenewold, Tom Sonneville and Mees Sengers, with Groenewold and Sonneville members of the Dutch team that finished joint-third at the Nations Cup Final.

Stefan Boermans (NED) is among the standout names due to compete in Alanya

Czechia will be represented by two clubs - Beachclub Strahov Praha and Beachvolejbalova Skola Praha - bringing some players with experience from the Beach Pro Tour to Alanya,  whereas Italy’s multiple national champions ASD Beach Volley Training Beinasco can count on the veteran Tiziano Andreatta and Marco Viscovich, another player with much experience from Pro Tour events. Viscovich and Davide Borraccino helped Italy reach the semis of the Nations Cup earlier this season. Türkiye’s TVF Spor Lisesi will represent the host country, with Ukraine’s Sunrise Beach Sports Academy and Hungary’s Yellow Fresh Fruits - SRSE Budapest completing the entries. The roster of the club from Hungary includes a number of up-and-coming young players who have stood out in age-group competitions such as Lukas Niemeier and Bence Tari.

Sunrise Beach Sports Academy will line up the same four players who claimed the Nations Cup title for Ukraine earlier this season

Last year’s gold medallists Sunrise Beach Sports Academy are the clear-cut favourites of the women’s competition, at least on paper, with a formidable roster including multiple age-group medallists Yeva Serdiuk and Daria Romaniuk, plus veteran Valentyna Davidova and rising star Anhelina Khmil. Earlier this season, these same players helped Ukraine claim top honours from the CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Final contested in Budapest.

Their competitors include two clubs from Spain – CDV Braveheart Gran Canaria and CV Majadahonda – whereas Hungary’s ÉDRA Tata travel to Alanya with a group featuring Lilla Villam and Stefania Flora Kun, who earlier this summer became the first duo representing their home country to compete at EuroBeachVolley since 2005. Montpellier Beach Volley (FRA), AS Beach Volley Training (ITA) and Alanya Belediye Spor (TUR) are rather outsiders, whereas Poland’s Unique Wilczyce are the first club from their country to contest the European Cup Final and will do so with the help of some of experienced players such as Malgorzata Lech Vlk and Aleksandra Gromadowska.

The competition follows an exciting format with a club vs club double header rewarding rather the depth of each roster than the skills of outstanding individuals. The event running from November 5 to 8 will bring to an end a busy and very successful Beach Volleyball season, while further cementing the role that clubs can play in growing the sport even further.
