Rimini poised to play host to WEVZA zonal event
News
A WEVZA women’s-only zonal event is due to take place this weekend in Rimini at the venue set up next to TIKI 26. The competition features teams from across the WEVZA member countries – namely Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and obviously hosts Italy as well, with valuable FIVB ranking points at stake. The event gets underway with the qualification round on Friday night followed by the main draw reaching its climax with the grand finale on Sunday afternoon.
Hosts PowerBeach will be represented by two teams. Sanguigni/Balducci will contest the qualification round, whereas Tallevi/Franzoni have received a wild card to start their journey from the main draw. Sestini/Nika have had to withdraw due to injury, whereas Casadei/Galassi will represent Italy as well. The top-seed are Dutchwomen Leanne van Vegten and Jill de Groot, winners of the Beach Pro Tour Futures contested this past May in Apeldoorn. PowerBeach are the event organisers in cooperation with NeverGiveUp and Beside Management under the patronage of the Municipality of Rimini.
