The Hungarian Volleyball Federation recently finalised the 3rd edition of the annual Hungarian Beach Volleyball Club Cup. Seven women’s and just as many men’s teams had registered for the participation in the competition, thereby setting an all-time record.

SRSE, winners of the men's competition

Following a qualification round held on May 25, the men’s Final Four was contested on June 7 in Csepel, where the spectators could enjoy high-level matches between young, but already internationally experienced and well-established players. In the final, the first ranked team from SRSE played against ÉDRA. SRSE had players like Bence Tari and Akos Veress (bronze medal winners from the U18 European Championship in 2023, and with a fifth place from the U19 World Championship to their name as well) and Lukas Borbély/Boldizsar Niemeier (silver medal winners from a Beach Pro Tour Futures held in Bujumbura, Burundi). ÉDRA’s roster included Vilmos Szabó/Marcell Mikuláss Koch (fourth-place finishers at the 2021 U20 European Championships) and 1st division indoor players Bandi/Bandi. The SRSE’s youngsters won the final in two straight matches.

The women’s final was organised in Tata. ÉDRA, the reigning champions, had a hard time against Strandsport SE in the semi-final, and could secure their victory only in the Golden Set, winning 15-10. The other semi-final was won by Vasas against Beach Sport by 2-0. The final between ÉDRA and Vasas was very close as both teams had experienced and high-level players on their rosters. Among others, ÉDRA had Lilla Villám (a five-time national champion and silver medallist at the MEVZA zonal event in Innsbruck), Stefánia Kun (with a ninth place from the U19 World Championships, and a MEVZA 2nd place on her CV), and Flóra Zolnai (U19  Worlds 9th place), while Vasas played with the Vasvári sisters, Zsofia and Eszter (whose resume includes a fourth place from the U20 European Championships and 9th place from the U21 Worlds). ÉDRA won the first match, while Vasas won the second. After an exciting Golden Set, ÉDRA had the upper hand 15-12.

ÉDRA were again the top side in the women's competition

With their successes, SRSE and ÉDRA won their respective competitions for the third consecutive year, thereby securing the right to represent Hungary in the Beach Volley European Cup 2025.
