Club Volleyball News
The most elite clubs of European volleyball have wasted no time in boosting their rosters for the next season. The transfer season this summer is quite exciting, and last week, Fenerbahce, Imoco, Eczacibasi, and Milano announced key transfers. These moves should set the stage for another thrilling 2025–26 campaign.
It was an exciting week for Fenerbahce Medicana Istanbul since they recently announced the signing of Italy’s star setter Alessia Orro. Orro spent last season at Vero Volley Milano and surely brings top-level quality to Turkey. She was named “Best Setter” of both the 2024-2025 CEV Champions League Volley and the 2024 Olympic Games with her national team, and her precise ball placement will lift Fenerbahce’s attack to a new level.
Fenerbahce also added another key piece by signing Poland’s captain Agnieszka Korneluk. Korneluk, a 2.00 m middle blocker, earned the 2024 Nations League “Best Middle Blocker” award with the Polish national team. She was in KS Developres Rzeszow last year, and her height, timing, and winning mentality will make Fenerbahce’s block one of the toughest to face next season.
Over in Italy, reigning #CLVolleyW champions Imoco Volley Conegliano strengthened its roster with Dutch outside hitter Nika Daalderop. The Netherlands captain joins from Numia Vero Volley Milano. She won the 2022–23 #CLVolleyW and helped her national side to European Championship medals. Daalderop’s powerful swing and clutch serving will fit perfectly with Conegliano’s high-pace offense.
Imoco also secured the future of its middle block by extending Marina Lubian’s contract for a fourth season. Lubian, a Paris 2024 Olympic gold medalist, has already racked up 13 trophies in Conegliano—including the 2023 Champions League—and was named to that season’s “Team of the Tournament.” Her presence ensures Imoco remains a defensive rock at the net.
In Istanbul, Eczacibasi Dynavit announced three big arrivals. First, opposite Magdalena Stysiak—who last played for Fenerbahce—joins with a reputation for explosive scoring and multiple national cups. Next, homegrown hero Ebrar Karakurt returns after stints in Italy and Russia; she won the 2018 Club World Championship and brings her trademark athleticism. Finally, veteran Meliha Diken rejoins the team with five Turkish League titles and a 2018 CEV Cup already on her résumé, adding depth and experience to the squad.
Numia Vero Volley Milano capped the week by signing American outside hitter Khalia Lanier. Lanier spent the past two seasons at Conegliano, where she helped the club win two Italian Scudetti, back-to-back Champions League titles, and a Club World Championship.
With these clear-cut additions, each club has addressed key needs and assembled rosters full of international stars and proven winners, setting the stage for another thrilling Champions League season.
