This past weekend, Conegliano retained its title and once again became the champions of the Italian Cup, while the CEV Champions League Volley teams from France suffered shocking defeats in their domestic leagues.

The final rounds of the Italian Cup took place this weekend, and all three Italian participants of the CEV Champions League Volley fought to take the trophy. In the first semifinal, the last SuperFinalist, A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano overpowered Igor Gorgonzola Novara by 3-1, despite Ebrar Karakurt’s outstanding performance on the losing side. In the second semifinal, Vero Volley Milano had no difficulties overcoming Volley Bergamo 1991.

In the final, even though the side from Milano put in a great effort, Conegliano played a superior game from beginning to end and won the match and the trophy in straight sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-19).

Conegliano's Swedish star , Isabelle Haak, was the top-scorer of the Final with 23 points. American opposite Jordan Thompson was the only player who scored in double digits (17) for Milano.

Volley Mulhouse Alsace took the court against SF Paris Saint-Cloud and suffered a loss in four sets (3-1: 25-19, 23-25, 25-16, 25-20). Likewise, Volero Le Cannet was handed a five-set-defeat against Levallois (3-2: 25-16, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 13-15) in the 17th round.

At the same time, it was quite a good weekend with solid performances for Turkish participants, unlike the French who suffered surprising defeats in their domestic leagues.
