Perugia, Warszawa and Roeselare Stay Perfect
News
The men’s club volleyball weekend unfolded with decisive wins for Europe’s #CLVolleyM powerhouses, as title favorites in Italy, Poland, Belgium, and Germany all lived up to expectations. From Perugia’s continued dominance in the SuperLega to Warszawa’s flawless run in the PlusLiga, the continent’s top teams reinforced their championship credentials with commanding victories.
In Italy’s SuperLega, defending European champions Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia visited Valsa Group Modena in a highly anticipated fourth-round clash. Although Modena’s recent form suggested a close contest, Perugia quickly imposed their rhythm and controlled much of the match, dropping only the second set en route to a 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-20, 25-20) victory. The result marked Perugia’s fourth consecutive win, keeping them unbeaten and among the league’s top two teams. Tunisian opposite Wassim Ben Tara led the scoring with 12 points, while Argentine middle blocker Agustín Loser added 11 in a well-balanced team performance. For Modena, Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger was the only player to reach double digits.
Over in Poland, the PlusLiga delivered a showdown between two previously undefeated clubs, as PGE Projekt Warszawa faced Jastrzębski Węgiel. What was expected to be a tight battle turned into a statement win for Warszawa, who dominated from start to finish to claim a clean 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-23, 25-22). German opposite Linus Weber once again proved unstoppable, leading all scorers with 18 points, while French outside hitter Kevin Tillie contributed 13 points and earned MVP honors. Despite Nicolas Szerszeń’s 14 points, Jastrzębski struggled to match Warszawa’s intensity. With this win, Warszawa improved to 3-0, maintaining their perfect record without dropping a single set.
In Belgium, both Knack Roeselare and Volley Haasrode Leuven, the country’s CEV Champions League Volley representatives, extended their perfect starts to the season. Roeselare overcame fellow unbeaten side Brabo Antwerp, while Leuven claimed another win to keep pace at the top of the standings. Both clubs now sit tied at the summit of the Belgian Volley League, each boasting three wins and no sets lost.
Finally, in Germany, Berlin Recycling Volleys bounced back in emphatic fashion after a shaky start to their campaign. Facing the undefeated Helios Grizzlys Giesen, Berlin produced a statement performance, sweeping their opponents 3-0 and handing Giesen their first defeat of the season. The result not only restored confidence in the German champions but also reignited their push toward the top of the 1. Bundesliga table.
With convincing performances across multiple leagues, the weekend reaffirmed the strength and consistency of Europe’s #CLVolleyM elite — teams that continue to set the standard both domestically and on the continental stage.
