Teams from Gyumri and Van crowned Armenia’s Snow Volleyball national champions

From February 14 to 16, 2025, the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) delivered their national Snow Volleyball Championship at the Mayler Mountain Resort in Aparan with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, with participation of 10 men’s and seven women’s teams.

The championship was held for the first time at the Mayler Mountain Resort and the Volleyball Federation of Armenia and the management of the ski resort worked hard to deliver the event in the best conditions, with two playing courts with modern and high-quality sports equipment built specifically for the competition. The participating teams started their journey in subgroups, after which the semi-final and medal matches were contested. 

The competition among the men was very fierce and as many as six of the participating teams had almost equal chances to crown themselves as the winners of the championship.

Featuring young players, the Nor-Nork team was able to celebrate two victories in their pool but lost to more experienced teams and was eventually eliminated from the competition. According to local observers, the Nor-Nork team will be able to gain experience in the future and will fight for prize places in the years to come.

Two teams representing FIMA fought for the third place and FIMA-1 was stronger to finish the competition with the bronze medals around their necks. The men’s final was the most beautiful and tense match of the championship, with the team from Gyumri celebrating a well-deserved victory over their opponents from Yerevan.

The women’s championship was also very tense and featured a number of interesting and beautiful matches. Teams Van, Perfect Smile, BSU, and KHMOMM all progressed to the semi-finals. Both semi-finals ended with the same score (2-1), which indicates how closely fought the matches were. Van and BSU emerged victorious from the first and second semi-final, respectively. 

Teams KHMOMM and Perfect Smile fought for the bronze medals, with KHMOMM having the upper hand. In the final match, the girls of Team Van were able to claim an early lead and to maintain that advantage until the end of the match, thereby crowning themselves national champions for 2025. 

The top three teams received medals and trophies from members of thew VFA Managing Board and the Operations Director of the Mayler Mountain Resort, Mr Arshavir Hakobyan.
