Luxembourg, July 13, 2020. The CEV Board of Administration confirmed at their last virtual meeting last week the organisers of a number of age group European Volleyball Championships. It was especially important to do so at this stage, as a testament to the remarkable resilience shown by members of the Volleyball family even in these challenging times and to their readiness to invest in activities and events that can help grow the next generation of elite Volleyball players. The future truly looks bright for European Volleyball – and the youngsters can already look forward to competing at the next continental showpiece events in their respective age groups!

After previous successful experiences, the National Federations of Hungary and Slovakia will return to join forces to host the 2021 edition of the U16 Women’s Volleyball European Championship. These two countries already did so back in 2016 and 2017, when they worked together to co-host the U19 women’s and U19 men’s events respectively, before taking it to the highest possible level when delivering a truly historic EuroVolley 2019 Women together with Turkey and Poland.

After playing host to a truly historic U19 women’s continental event in September 2018, the first Volleyball event of such magnitude to take place in the Balkan country, Albania will welcome another major competition in 2021 by hosting the Final Round of the U17 Men’s European Championship. This move confirms not only the high ambitions cultivated by the local Federation, but also their commitment to make sure that, by inspiring the younger generations, Volleyball becomes one of the most popular sports in the nation.

Georgia has played host to an impressive number of international competitions, spanning from Volleyball to Beach Volleyball events, not to forget regular stops of the Snow Volleyball European Tour for the past three years. The Caucasus country will welcome the 2022 edition of the U18 Men’s Volleyball European Championship – the first time an international event of this calibre takes place there after Georgia co-hosted with their friends and neighbours from Azerbaijan the 2017 edition of EuroVolley Women.

Finally, looking further ahead, the CEV Board of Administration confirmed Serbia and Hungary as the hosts of #EuroVolleyU16W in 2023. Two neighbouring countries sharing much Volleyball history as well as a proven track record in the delivery of international sporting events will provide the ideal stage for the ‘stars of tomorrow’ to begin their international careers with an experience that they will never forget!
