Tel Aviv, Israel, February 12, 2019. The men’s and women’s teams of Hapoel KFAR SABA are vying for a historic achievement for Israel’s Volleyball family as they play later this week for a spot in the semis of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup.

The men of Hapoel Yoav KFAR SABA secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory last week against Stade Poitevin POITIERS but they expect a much tougher game on Wednesday away from home. Hapoel are in full swing after last week they handed Hapoel MATE-ASHER AKKO their first loss in this year’s Israeli domestic competitions courtesy of 34 points scored by Bartlomiej Kluth. Hapoel are only two sets away from fulfilling their dream of qualifying for a European semi-final for the first time in history.

As for the women, they have a more demanding task as they have to come back from a 0-3 away loss at the hands of France’s Volero LE CANNET. The French team coached by Avital Selinger will try to prevent the achievement of a historic feat by Hapoel, with the team around Anna Velikiy vying for European glory after seizing the national cup title on Monday night in Ra’anana. Hapoel already beat Dukla LIBEREC of the Czech Republic at the Golden Set earlier in the season and they hope to repeat the same feat.

Hapoel KFAR SABA are the only club with two teams still in contention in the European Cups along with Italy’s Saugella / Vero Volley MONZA and Slovenia’s Calcit Volley KAMNIK, who contest the quarterfinals of the CEV Challenge Cup as well.
