Iceland the Faroe Islands will be breaking new ground for European Volleyball – and will do so when they host the 2025 edition of #EuroVolleyU16W. For the very first time in history, these two countries and their respective National Federations will be delivering a continental championship in an effort to grow the appeal and popularity of the Volleyball game among fans and media alike.

Last year Iceland claimed a historic gold in the U19 women's SCA Championship

It is truly unprecedented that these two countries from the Small Countries Association (SCA) join forces to organise the final stage of a European Championship – with the rising stars of European Volleyball due to travel to Iceland and the Faroe Islands in the summer of 2025. This will be a challenge for the local Organising Committees but the Icelandic and Faroese Volleyball families very much wish to step out of their comfort zone to inspire their youngsters to play the game and set an example for other ‘small’ Federations to follow.

Both National Federations have been working extensively on the delivery of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ reaching out to schools to involve as many kids as possible and who knows – possibly some of these young girls will be wearing the shirt of their national team in 2025!

Many passionate Faroese Volleyball fans look forward to a historic #EuroVolleyU16W on home ground

The Faroe Islands and Iceland have already hosted a number of SCA events but no such tournament equals the magnitude and importance of the #EuroVolleyU16W Finals coming up in a little more than three years. However, the two countries will for sure capitalise on such past experiences – and Iceland on the successful delivery of the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in 2015 as well – to provide Europe’s stars in the making with the ideal stage to lay the foundations for a hopefully long international career in the sport.

Stay tuned as Iceland and the Faroe Islands will be working hard to become Volleyball hotspots on the European map and deliver an experience to remember for all involved in the 2025 edition of #EuroVolleyU16W!
