Italy punch ticket to #EuroVolleyU17M after winning WEVZA qualifier

Italy emerged victorious from the WEVZA qualifier for this year’s #EuroVolleyU17M held this past week in Darfo Boario Terme, Brescia. The event featured seven national teams from the Western European Zonal Volleyball Association (WEVZA), with hosts Italy eventually punching the ticket to the Final Round due to take place later this year in Montenegro.

Italy beat Spain 3-1 (20-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-21) in the final contested on Sunday. France finished the tournament in third place after thrashing Germany 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) in the ‘small final’. Portugal beat Belgium 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-15) to claim fifth place – as the Netherlands ended up at the bottom of the final charts. All teams apart from Italy will contest the second round of qualifications scheduled for April 2023 – and vie there for a spot in the Final Round.
