News
The U20 Women’s European Championship 2027 qualifier organised by the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) concluded on Sunday at the Rustavi Sports Palace after four days of exciting competition. Poland claimed the title after a dramatic final against Ukraine. Ukraine took the first two sets (25-19, 25-23), but Poland fought back to win the next three (25-20, 25-7, 16-14) and eventually secured a 3-2 victory after two hours of action. This way, Poland did also punch their ticket to next year’s #EuroVolleyU20W Final Round due to take place in Italy and Malta.
Ukraine finished in second place, while Latvia took the bronze medal. In the third-place match, Latvia defeated their neighbours from Estonia 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-11) in a tense battle that lasted two hours as well. Ukraine, Latvia, and Estonia will all contest the second round of qualifiers scheduled for the spring of 2027 as per the slots available for EEVZA teams.
The home side representing Georgia finished the tournament in sixth place, after showing great determination in front of the Rustavi crowd.
The tournament brought together some of the region’s most promising young Volleyball talents, who delivered a high-level of competition and several thrilling matches.
EEVZA and the Georgian Volleyball Federation would like to thank all participating teams, officials, volunteers and fans for their contribution to the success of the event.
