Pools for #EuroVolleyU22M drawn

The eight teams due to contest the second edition of #EuroVolleyU22M know what their journey will be looking like later this summer following the Drawing of Lots completed on Monday afternoon in Apeldoorn. The Dutch city will be playing host to the continental competition – together with Groningen – from July 9 to 14, ultimately crowning the European champions in this age group. 

After the DOL organised under the supervision of Jury President Geert De Dobbeleer, the composition of the two preliminary pools reads as follows:

The Netherlands and Italy, as hosts and highest-ranked participating team respectively, were placed at the top of Pool I and II. Three draws followed next for the remaining six participating teams, previously grouped into three cups of two each as per the European ranking in this age category (as of January 26, 2023). 

The top two teams from each group will progress to the semis, which will be followed by the medal matches. This is only the second edition of an age-group continental championship recently introduced by the CEV to facilitate the seamless transition of our stars in the making from the junior ranks to the upper echelons of senior, elite Volleyball. Back in 2022, Italy won the inaugural #EuroVolleyU22M held in Tarnow with France and Poland completing the podium.
