The local Kids and Youth Sports School in Daugavpils will be playing host from December 6-10 to the 2022 edition of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) U17 Women’s Championship – which doubles as a first-round qualifier for next year’s #EuroVolleyU17W as well.

Team Latvia will be trying to exploit the home-court advantage at the EEVZA #EuroVolleyU17W qualifier in Daugavpils

The national teams of Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine take part in the tournament. The teams will compete for EEVZA medals in one single round robin, with the winners qualifying for the final stage of next year’s #EuroVolleyU17W in Serbia and Hungary. The teams finishing second to fifth will contest the second round of qualifications in April 2023.

“All 14 girls on the roster are ready for the competition. Not even one is a reserve player, since all girls are good and skilled enough to take to the court – this is very important for the team to achieve great results. Our main goal in Daugavpils is to show that we are ready now, and we will not be saving energy for the next round. It is also important to clarify what still needs to be done before the next qualification round.”

Daniele Capriotti
Head coach of Team Latvia

It is the second time that such a European zonal qualifier takes place in Daugavpils. In Latvia, youth volleyball is well developed, and Daugavpils is one of main Volleyball hubs in the Baltic country.

Live streaming of all matches is available on the official YouTube channel of the Volleyball Federation of Latvia.
