Finland has joined the already confirmed co-organisers of the CEV EuroVolley 2026 Men – Bulgaria and Romania – to help deliver the pool stage of the competition that will be crowning the next European champions. Finland already did so in 2021 and EuroVolley will return to the city of Tampere in about two and a half years.

When they last played EuroVolley matches on home soil in Tampere in 2021, Finland recorded three wins to reach the 8th Finals

Even though the 2021 edition did take place pretty much amidst the many constraints brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, still it was such a resounding success that the Nordic country has decided to go for a repeat.

Finland previously hosted the European Championships in 1977 (for both genders) and in 1993 (for men’s only), doing so entirely on their own on both occasions.

Volleyball has enjoyed much popularity in the country especially since the men’s national team achieved a truly historic fourth place – their best result to this day – in the 2007 edition of the continental championship held in Russia. Finland has become a force to reckon with ever since and therefore it does not come as a surprise that the Finnish Volleyball Federation and their local partners in Tampere have decided to bring back EuroVolley and the excitement that goes with it.

“This initiative is a proof of the legacy that this elite event – EuroVolley – leaves behind, boosting the development and the appeal of the sport in the host countries and leaving the organisers and the fans longing for more such experiences. I am sure that hosting the event on home soil will provide an additional motivation for elite and up-and-coming players willing to chase further glory for Finnish Volleyball."

CEV President

The Mayor of Tampere, Kalervo Kummola, said: “In Tampere, we are proud to host the CEV EuroVolley Men 2026. It is an honour for the city of Tampere to host prestigious competitions in an internationally respected sport. I warmly welcome all national teams as well as Finnish and international fans to Tampere to enjoy the experiences of our sports-loving city.”

The President of the Finnish Volleyball Federation, Lauri Inna, is happy to host the CEV EuroVolley Men in 2026:

“We are very excited to be one of the hosts of EuroVolley 2026. This endeavour strongly supports the marketing of Volleyball in Finland and builds community. We are also ready to work as one team together with the other host countries and the CEV in order to raise the profile of the event and deliver a real party for players, fans, and all other stakeholders of the Volleyball family.”

In 2021, despite the restrictions in place, many Finnish fans could come together to cheer their heroes on

The CEV will confirm in due time the country due to host the competition from the pool stage up until the medal matches. Bulgaria will host one pool plus four 8th final matches and two of the quarterfinals, whereas Romania and Finland will each be hosting one of the remaining pools. Since the 2019 edition, the CEV EuroVolley has been held across four countries per gender and features the participation of 24 teams – thereby accounting for a majestic Volleyball party that has literally taken the whole of Europe by storm!
