Türkiye misses out on Olympic Bronze

European champions, Türkiye faced Brazil and many familiar faces today in the Bronze Medal match to close their adventure at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 with a defeat in four sets, 3-1 (25-21, 27-25, 22-25, 25-15).

Brazil was the better team on the day, with players such as Gabi, a very familiar face to European volleyball fans still in hot form following their defeat in the semis against the USA. The outside hitter and captain of the Brazilians, Gabi finished the game on 28 points, the highest tally of any player on the day. Turkish superstar, Melissa Vargas finished just two points behind, on 26 pts.

Despite going home without a medal, the reigning European Champions can consider their Paris campaign successful, reaching the Olympic semi-finals for the first time in their history.

There is only one match left in the indoor volleyball Olympics, with the women's Final between Italy and the USA scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday 11th August at 13:00 CEST.
