The winner of the Women’s 2023 CEV Volleyball European Golden League is Ukraine! After a match against Sweden, it was Ukraine who claimed the title, the trophy, and the gold medals.

The first final match of the Women’s Golden League between Ukraine and Sweden took place on Thursday. That match brought on a lot of excitement, but in the end, it was an “easy” win for the national team of Ukraine who had a 3-0 advantage when going into the second match.

In today’s match, Ukraine won over Sweden by 0-3 (17-25, 22-25, 30-32) and in total had a 0-6 result which led them to the trophy!

Ukraine dominated the first set, although they had a tough time at the beginning of the set when they were losing to Sweden by 9-5. Everything changed afterwards and Ukrainian domination began. They equalized at 9-9 and closed the set with an eight-point advantage (17-25). It is worth mentioning that the team of Ukraine had four kill blocks and three aces in this set, while Sweden only had one of each.

Sweden opened the second set strongly and was two points ahead of Ukraine (5-3), which they managed to get back (6-6). The cat-and-mouse type of play began and at 18-18, it was still unclear on whose side this set is going to go. In the end, it was Ukraine with 22-25 who closed another set and were already celebrating because they had a much-needed advantage in order of getting that trophy.

The last set was a real rollercoaster. It started off as a point-by-point type of play but Ukraine managed to separate and at 11-16 it looked like the set will soon come to an end. But the Swedish team had their mini-series of scoring (from 15-19 to 18-19) and got back in the game completely. At 20-24, it looked like the match will be finished but Sweden got back in the game completely and at 25-24, it was an open set. In the end, Ukraine took the well-deserved win by 30-32 and claimed the title!
