- After three victories and three defeats in Pool C of the CEV Champions League Volley 2023, Knack ROESELARE finished as second best third and moved over to the quarter finals of the CEV Volleyball CUP 2023.
- In this quarter final, Knack ROESELARE will meet Greenyard MAASEIK, the other Belgian volleyball team with the largest number of European matches on their account.
- Both teams encounter each other yearly several times in the Belgian regular competition, in the play-offs, in the cup-matches and/or in the Super-Cup but never before in an European match.
- This season, Knack ROESELARE defeated Greenyard MAASEIK already three times: in the regular competition (3-1) and in the home (3-0) and away match (1-3) in the semi-finals of the Belgian Cup.
- In the coming two weeks, Knack ROESELARE and Greenyard MAASEIK will face each other three times in eight days: CEV cup home, national competition away and CEV cup away.
- Meantime Knack ROESELARE also advanced to the finals of the Belgian Cup. On 26 February, they will meet Decospan Volley MENEN, the other Belgian team in the CEV Champions League Volley 2023, in Antwerp in their race for their fifteenth Belgian Cup.
Bram VAN DEN HOVE“Of course we preferred to move on to the pool phase of the CEV Champions League Volley 2023 in the company of the elite of European volleyball teams. But now, all our attention goes to the second European Volleyball competition, the CEV Volleyball Cup. That we meet the other Belgian team, Greenyard MAASEIK, in the quarter finals is no issue for us. This is something which happens all the time for Italian and Polish teams. We put our focus on our next target and that is to reach the semi-finals”
