Calcit KAMNIK - Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL

  • In their previous encounter in Istanbul, Calcit Volley suffered a 0-3 defeat (-16, -18, -19).
  • The upcoming match between Calcit Volley and Fenerbahçe will be their fourth encounter.
  • The Kamnik team fondly remembers the first meeting in the 2020/21 season when they surprised the European club champions of 2012 with a strong start in Trento. As they face each other again on Thursday, Calcit Volley hopes to recreate a similar upset and make the home crowd proud.

Calcit KAMNIK

  • Calcit Volley Kamnik is set to bid farewell to Tivoli with a challenging encounter against the formidable Fenerbahçe. This Thursday, at 18:00, in Tivoli Hall, the Slovenian team will host the leading team of Group C in the Champions League, marking their final home game in this competition.
  • After securing victory against Luka Koper in the first round of the Sportklub Women's Volleyball League, Calcit Volley, the four-time consecutive Slovenian National Champions, enjoyed a nine-day break.
  • Some players, including Maša Pucelj and Ula Gorjup, participated in the MEVZA Championship in Maribor with the U-20 National team. Pucelj returned fatigued, requiring a few days of rest before resuming training. Despite the lack of collective training since early December, coach Bruno Najdič remains optimistic about the upcoming challenges.
  • Bruno Najdič (coach): "Even in full strength and regular training, we wouldn't have much chance against them. We will try to play the match against the Turks as relaxed as possible and use it to prepare for the upcoming games against Ankara in the domestic league on Saturday and the Tuesday match in Germany against Potsdam."
  • Coach Najdič emphasizes that while dreaming of a European victory against such a formidable opponent is unrealistic, the team will give their maximum effort. He invites the Slovenian volleyball community to Tivoli to witness the game and enjoy the opportunity to see some of the world's best players in action.

  • Cansu Çetin (Player of Fenerbahçe Opet): "We will take to the field to continue our winning streak in our group and show good volleyball. This year, as always, we are very focused on our goals. We want to return to our country with three points."

Calcit KAMNIK

  • Bruno Najdič (Calcit Volley coach): "We came out with a very brave, quality effort, which I like. I am very pleased. Unfortunately, we had a few bad moments in each set, when a team with such quality as Fenerbahçe, makes that advantage, which is then difficult to catch. Again, there were certain situations that we could and should have played better, but that's always the case in every match. But also if we had done everything perfectly, we might have won a set, but the match could have gone on differently and we would have lost it after an hour of play. From this point of view, I'm happy with how we played the match and I'm happy that we gave the Turks a decent resistance."

Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL

  • Ana Cristina Menezes Oliveira de Souza (MVP of the match, Fenerbahce): "We started slower, the coach mixed up the line-up a bit, but then we found our game and continued to play much better. I think we played a good game, the block was our strong weapon."
