Cyprus starts in the competition meeting Ukraine. The neutral Czech Republic will host Saturday's match.
With ambitions for a good course, the Women's National Team begins on Saturday, August 20, 2022, its attempt in the C Qualifying Group of Eurovolley 2023. The first opponent is Ukraine at 19:00 Cyprus time (18:00 local) in the neutral city of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic due to the war situation in Ukraine. The Group also includes Portugal and Hungary.
Difficulties for Louis Loizou's National Team presented with many absences are a given, but the girls who prepared very well despite the lack of friendlies will give it their all. A disadvantage is the absence from the Czech team of captain Erika Zebyla, who will be present in the remaining games.
The preparation will be completed at Sport Hall Klimenska, which will host the match on Saturday morning, while training will also take place on Friday in the Czech Republic.
The team for the Czech Republic consists of: Vasiliki Riala, Stella Ioannou, Christiana David, Georgia Hadjicharalambous, Elena Tsoutsouki, Irini Ioannou, Paraskevi Pehlivanis, Andrea Dobrasinovic, Ekaterini Kesta, Vasiliki Hadjikonstada, Mary Hadjipetrou, Eleni Karakosta, Emilia Dimitriou, Thelma Christoforou and Anny Prokopiou. The match will be refereed by Roy Bensimon from Israel and Veronika Mioara Papadopol from Italy.
