Apeldoorn and Nijmegen to host 1-Star World Tour events in September
News
With The Hague playing host to the CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Final only last week, Beach Volleyball fans in the Netherlands can already look forward to additional international competition on their home soil with two 1-Star World Tour events confirmed for later this summer. The two double-gender events will be taking place in the cities of Apeldoorn and Nijmegen on September 9-12 and 16-19, respectively.
Apeldoorn is a familiar place for Beach Volleyball teams and fans – since back in 2018, it was one of four Dutch cities (together with The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht) to host a highly successful edition of EuroBeachVolley. As for Nijmegen, the city close to the German border is relatively new when it comes to international Beach Volleyball competition – and yet it will provide another valuable opportunity for more established as well as for up-and-coming teams to perform on the international stage.
The approval of the two events brings the number of 1-Star and 2-Star World Tour tournaments in Europe up to 15 this year – a truly impressive figure knowing that organisers and promoters still have to deal with the many challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Dutch Volleyball Federation (Nevobo) and promoter Sportworx will join forces once again – just as they did for the highly successful Continental Cup Final – to extend the Beach Volleyball season further into mid-September and confirm the Netherlands as one of the most popular spots on the international Beach Volleyball map.
