Fenerbahçe Claims Turkish Cup Title, Victories From Conegliano and Milano

A thrilling weekend of volleyball across Europe saw Fenerbahce lift the Turkish Cup, while #CLVolleyW semifinalists Milano and Conegliano defeated their rivals in their semifinal series in Italy. Meanwhile, as expected, top contenders in Poland and Germany dominated their semifinal openers.

In the Final Four of the Turkish Cup, defending champions Fenerbahçe Medicana İstanbul continued their reign. They swept THY İstanbul in straight sets (3-0: 26-24, 25-23, 25-13) in the first semifinal. The second clash featured a five-set battle between VakifBank İstanbul and Eczacıbaşı Dynavit İstanbul, where Eczacıbaşı came out on top after a tightly contested tie-break (3-2: 25-18, 25-27, 25-22, 18-25, 15-10).

The final on Saturday was another tight affair, with Fenerbahçe showing great composure in the closing moments of each set to retain their crown and secure their fifth overall Turkish Cup title (3-0: 26-24, 25-22, 28-26). Melissa Vargas was named MVP after scoring 26 points, supported by Arina Fedorovtseva (15) and Ana Cristina De Souza (14). Tijana Bošković became the most productive player in Eczacıbaşı with 19 points.

In Italy’s Serie A1 semifinals, A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano hosted Igor Gorgonzola Novara in a must-win clash. Novara took the opening set convincingly, but Conegliano responded with a dominant turnaround, winning the next three sets to level the series 2-1 (3-1: 16-25, 25-18, 25-11, 25-15). Isabelle Haak topped the scores with 21 points, while Gabriela Guimarães (MVP) and Zhu Ting contributed 19 each. Tatiana Tolok led Novara with 13 points.

In the other semifinal, Vero Volley Milano overcame Savino Del Bene Scandicci after dropping the first set, claiming a 3-1 win and the series (3-1: 16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-17). Helena Cazaute earned MVP honors, while Paola Egonu was the top scorer with 25 points. Ekaterina Antropova led tallied 20 points on the losing side.

In Poland, the top two teams of the regular season, Developres Rzeszów and ŁKS Commercecon Łódź, opened their semifinal series with confident victories. Over in Germany, regular-season leaders SSC Palmberg Schwerin and Allianz MTV Stuttgart mirrored that success, taking 3-0 wins in their respective semifinal openers.

While Fenerbahçe celebrated cup success, Milano reached the Italian finals and now Conegliano must win one more to join them. Across the board, top contenders in Poland and Germany stayed on course, promising more exciting clashes in the buildup both at the national and continental levels.
