Maritza PLOVDIV, Bulgaria’s regular participant in the women’s CEV Champions League Volley, claimed a 3-1 (25-22, 25-12, 22-25, 25-15) victory over CSKA SOFIA in Saturday’s Kupa Bulgariya final to celebrate its seventh consecutive and ninth overall national cup trophy. In front of the packed stands at the Hristo Botev hall in Sofia, Maritza’s opposite Iva Dudova delivered a match-high 19 points, joined into the double digits by outside hitter and captain Dobrina Hristoskova with 18 and middle blocker Mariya Krivoshiiska with 14. Hristoskova was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

The Yellow-and Blues reached the Bulgaria Cup final without losing a single set along the way. They started their 2023-2024 campaign with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-22) quarterfinal win over DKS VARNA at home on December 8. A week later, Maritza mastered a 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-23) semifinal shutout of Slaviya SOFIA on the road.

“The tradition continues, and we are happy. The place for all these trophies is in Plovdiv and we have no intention of giving the others a chance. We are grateful to the club management for their support and patience. Each new trophy is a different experience,” said head coach Borislav Krachanov.

“It is always a great feeling to win a trophy. It’s nice that we managed to win this one with a very young squad. It’s extremely precious for me, because I came back to playing Volleyball after a long absence."
