At the weekend, Sir Safety Conad Perugia showed how good a team they are, while huge battles complicated things in Russia.

The most anticipated encounter of the weekend was expected to be the clash between two CEV Champions League participants Sir Safety Conad Perugia and Diatec Trentino, in the fifth round of the Italian Super League. Even though Trentino defeated Perugia just a few weeks ago, this time, hosts Perugia dominated from beginning to end and won the match without losing a set (3-0: 25-12, 25-21, 25-18).

With this victory, Perugia continues to stay undefeated in the league with 12 points in total. The Trentino side, however, took their second defeat in a row and dropped to fifth place in the overall standings.

Polish superstar Wilfredo Leon left his mark with a superb performance, especially in serving. He scored a total of 21 points and became the top scorer of the match, including seven aces in only three sets. No players scored double digits on Trentino’s side.

In the sixth round of the Russian Men’s Superleague, the CEV Champions League squad Dinamo Moscow visited the CEV Cup representative Zenit Kazan. The battle was very tough as expected, and Dinamo emerged victorious after five sets which lasted more than 2.5 hours (3-2: 25-23, 28-30, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13) in front of 2,200 spectators.

Denis Bogdan led Dinamo with 21 points in total, breaking their opponent’s winning streak. On Kazan’s side, Bartosz Bednorz could not take to the court due to health problems. Without the Polish outside hitter, another star Maxim Mikhaylov scored 25 points and became the top scorer of the match.

This match was also the first defeat for Zenit Kazan this season. Both teams share a 5-1 win-loss record in the standings right now and sit in second and third place. Lokomotiv Novosibirsk remain the only undefeated team in Russia with their perfect set ratio of six wins, 18 sets won and none lost.
