On Saturday, the trophy designed for the men’s Czech Volleyball Cup was lifted by the players of VK Lvi PRAHA. On the other hand, Dukla LIBEREC dominated the women’s competition for the second year in a row.
The duel featuring VK ČEZ KARLOVARSKO and VK Lvi PRAHA in the men’s final accounted for a top spectacle where the players from the Czech capital were more accurate and, in the end, emerged as the stronger side. Thus, the ‘Lions’ lifted the trophy for the first time in the club’s history, after defeating their opponents in four sets (25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23). The Most Valuable Player (MVP) prize was awarded to their opposite hitter David Kollátor, who contributed six aces and a total of nineteen points to his team’s victory. The MVP award was presented by CEV Vice-President and President of the Slovak Volleyball Federation, Mr Marek Rojko. On the VK KARLOVARSKO side, Filip Šestan and Renars Pauls Jansons contributed eighteen points apiece.
In the final match of the women’s Chance Czech Cup also played in České Budějovice, VK Dukla LIBEREC confirmed their role as favourites and retained their title from last year. In the duel with VK KP BRNO, they left no chance to their opponents, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-15, 25-19). Lucie Šulcová of Dukla was named the Player of the Game, after scoring eleven times. Twenty points were scored by her teammate and opposite hitter, Jana Fixová. The silver medals were presented to the players of VK KP BRNO by the former coach of the club and current CEV Vice-President Marek Rojko.
