Luxembourg, November 8, 2018. After co-hosting a highly successful and record-breaking FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship earlier this year, Italy and Bulgaria will welcome the stars in the making as these Volleyball nations will be playing host to some of the upcoming age-group European Championships. The CEV Board of Administration confirmed the respective organisers at their plenary meeting held last week in Budapest.

Italy will be hosting as many as three such events in four years, starting with the Final Round of the 2019 U16 Women’s Volleyball European Championship that the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) will organise together with Croatia. The semi-finals and medal matches will be taking place in Italy, while Croatia will host all classification matches 5-8. Italy are the titleholders in this age category after winning the inaugural edition held last year in Sofia.

The Bulgarian capital, on the other hand, will welcome the teams participating in the Final Round of the 2019 CEV U17 Men’s Volleyball European Championship. Italy will be trying to retain the title they claimed in 2017 at the tournament organised by Turkey in the city of Konya.

The Italian Federation will be hosting another two continental events in 2020 and 2022, namely the Final Rounds of the U18 Men’s and U20 Men’s European Championships, with the U18 tournament taking place in Italy and Greece. Italy will be hosting all semi-final, classification and medal matches. The U20 European Championship Finals will return to Italy for the first time since the 2000 edition. As for Greece, this country will be organising in 2020 their first age-group European Championship Finals since playing host to the 1992 edition of the U19 women’s competition.

Further information about the respective venues and dates will follow in due course.
