EuroVolley Pool C matches in Tampere fulfil WWF One Planet sustainability programme

In cooperation with the City of Tampere, the organisers of the CEV Enel EuroVolley 2026 Men Pool C matches in Tampere took a big step in event sustainability by applying for the sustainability labels defined by the WWF One Planet criteria. 

What is WWF One Planet? It follows the ESG framework, thereby covering environmental, social and good governance policies. The criteria consist of ten themes in total, spanning a wide range of topics within these areas, from the environment to the circular economy, from mobility solutions to food, energy and water efficiency. The WWF One Planet sustainability criteria were developed by WWF Finland specifically for the sports and events sector.

The criteria support sustainable development goals and help strengthen sustainability practices across the sports and events industry. They are intended for event venues and arenas, national governing bodies, sports clubs and teams, as well as various types of events.

Piloted in 2025 and launched at the beginning of 2026, the sustainability criteria awarded the first WWF One Planet sustainability label to the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 event one year ago. The tournament was also held at Nokia Arena in Tampere - just as the CEV Enel EuroVolley 2026 Men. The commitment of the Finnish Volleyball Association with the WWF One Planet sustainability criteria will not stop after EuroVolley, as plans have been devised to follow it also for future national team events and the 2027 edition of the annual Power Cup, the world's largest youth Volleyball tournament.
