Giovanni Guidetti, head coach of Vakifbank ISTANBUL: “We are lucky here to win since Lokomotiv are a great team and they played very good. But Vakifbank are to win and we never give up. Our pool is very strong and Lokomotiv are also very strong, just we are stronger.”

Maja Ognjenovic, captain of Vakifbank ISTANBUL: “I am the only player in Vakifbank who played here in Kaliningrad. That time when we played the Cup the atmosphere here was great and spectators were very good. We won because Lokomotiv lost concentration after winning two sets. They just thought it is the end and it happens in volleyball when the team lost their power after some time. It is a pity we could not win in the first two sets, only the third set became critical.”

Ekaterina Orlova, captain of Lokomotiv KALININGRAD: “It is shame that we lost in the match moreover in front of our fans. But Vakifbank is a very strong contester with a great experience of matches and victories in Champions League. In some critical moments we were missing it.”

Andrey Voronkov, head coach of Lokomotiv KALININGRAD: “We played against a very serious opponent who won Champions League many times. We showed with our game that we can play as equals. Unfortunately, we made many mistakes in simple situations and our opponents punished us. Yes, there was too much emotions. But it is not surprising we play in Champions League for the first time, our team, players wanted to show their best. Emotions helped us to look honorable against such a serious opponent like Vakifbank.”
