With the certainty of advancing to the EuroVolley 2023, the Czech volleyball players faced the final home match against the players from Finland. The northerners held the qualification position before the match and in case of victory, they would also qualify for the EuroVolley 2023. The Czechs, however, controlled the entire match and won in three sets in front of a sold-out arena in Tábor.
The Czechs were lucky to get the opening point of the match when, after an inaccurate reception by the home team, the Finnish blocker smashed the ball over the line. After the Finns equalized, Mlejnková hit a hard shot. In an even opening game, both teams regularly took turns in gaining points, with points coming mainly after attacks. Orvošová and Kossanyiová asserted themselves, and Bjärregard-Madsen on the Finnish side. The Finnish players scored a point block at 9:9, later at 11:12. An exchange later, the Finns gained a two-point advantage for the first time in the match and the Czech coach reacted with a timeout. The northerners managed to keep the lead, but they made mistakes on serve and after successful attacks by Mlejnková and Orvošová the home players managed to level the score at 16:16. Mlejnková managed to flip the score to the Czech side with a hard smash and after the first ace the Czechs led 20:18. In the end, only the home players were scoring points and after a block by Kossányiová, the opening set came to a set point. Koulisiani took advantage of the first one with a point block.
In the second set, the visiting volleyball players started better and quickly led 1:3. However, Mlejnková returned the lead to the Czechs with three successful attacks, Orvošová shot through the Finnish block to make it 5:3 and the Finns went to the bench for a meeting. After that, they immediately evened the pace, but the scoring stopped and after an ace by Mlejnková the home team led 10:6. On the second over, Valková increased the lead to six points. Öhman scored a direct point from the serve and after a block by Alanko the Finns got closer to 15:13. The Czechs secured their 19th point on a block by Valková and Šimáňová, Laakkonen attacked the middle of the net and the score was 19:17. Valková managed to score for the second time in a short time with her second shot, Koulisiani blocked the Finnish attack and after a successful smash through the middle of the net the 20-year-old Czech volleyball player increased the score to 22:18. The Finns didn't score, Kossányiová fought off a set point and Koulisiani used it again.
The beginning of the third set belonged to the home players, who gained a quick 4:1 lead. When Valková again reached for a feint at the second over, she hit a precise Finnish square. The Finnish players made technical errors, and the Czechs defended reliably and attacked hard. Captain Kossányiová increased the score to 8:3 and coach Kangasniemi called for a timeout. After that, the top Finnish player Laakkonen successfully attacked and Korhonen reduced the two-point difference to two points straight from her serve. However, within a very short time, the home team led again by 4 points when another successful attack was scored by Mlejnková. Orvošová added an ace, but her next serve went into the net and the scoreboard showed 15:11.
Kosonen scored directly from the serve, but her teammates didn't agree on defense in the following set and a double block by Kossányiová and Koulisiani meant another timeout at 17:13. The Finns responded with the same weapon, blocking Korhonen and Rekola. The third double block in a row was set by Koulisiani and Orvošová, and the score was 19:15. The visiting Finnish volleyball players managed to close the gap to one point and coach Athanasopoulos reached for a timeout. Mlejnková was unerring from the stake, moreover, her smashes were un-catchable. After a discussion with the referee, the head referee awarded a yellow card to the Finnish coach. His Czech counterpart asked for a video challenge when he complained about a misstep during the attack, but he was not successful. Mlejnková was not wrong again and increased the score to 23:20. The video challenge also decided a possible match point for the Czech players, this time the home team was awarded a point. The Czech volleyball players' 3:0 victory was decided by captain Kossányiová.
Giannis Athanasopoulos"This tournament is very aggressive. You have to play games every three days. After the win in Montenegro, we didn’t sleep and travel until the next afternoon. We have not enough rest, so it is very difficult to bring the girls back to be focused on the next game, already we know, we are qualified. However, the girls did it, they were very focused from the first point, despite the Finns played really good game. Congratulations to all our players, also the staff."
