The CEV Beach Volleyball Department organised on Friday afternoon an online meeting with the organisers of 1-Star and 2-Star World Tour events held in Europe throughout 2021 in order to review strengths and any weaknesses of the recently completed season. A similar videoconference had taken place earlier this week with the organisers of this year’s age-group European Championships as well.

As many as 17 1-Star and 2-Star World Tour events were delivered throughout the 2021 season in Europe

The Zoom call was an opportunity to share best practices and experiences, as well as to raise any concerns in an open and productive exchange of views. The organisers representing National Federations and / or local promoters agreed it was at times challenging to cope with the COVID-19 protocols in place in each country to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, but they all could happily look back at the successful delivery of a record number of events across Europe.

With the attendees representing eight countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, and Ukraine), the common feeling was the pride resulting from the ability to deliver a competition even in these still very challenging times. Some of them did so for the very first time ever or after a very long break and absence from the World Tour map, which is testament to their resilience and dedication to the sport.

The 2021 season featured the introduction of some innovative tools – such as the extensive use of the new electronic scoresheet and the collection of statistical data for all matches – as well as the implementation of a consistent corporate identity across all events.

The members of the CEV Beach Volleyball Department expressed their satisfaction at the good cooperation with all organisers and their intention to continue to work hard in the spirit of service providers whose primary goal and ultimate mission are to grow the game at all levels.
