In the women’s MEVZA League, Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR (SLO) secured three very important points for the standing against HAOK Mladost ZAGREB (CRO), celebrating a 3-1 (25-20, 28-26, 22-25, 25-19) victory on Wednesday evening on home soil.

As a result, the hosts drew level with the reigning Croatian champions – both teams have nine points from a 3-4 win-loss record – and they are still in the race for a Final Four spot. Lorena Lorber-Fijok was the most prolific player for the now third-placed home team, scoring 24 points, while HAOK Mladost ZAGREB’s Josipa Marković managed to put 20 to her name.

The second women’s match-up scheduled for Wednesday between OK Marina KAŠTELA (CRO) and the current table leaders OK Calcit KAMNIK (SLO) had to be postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The men’s competition will continue on Thursday with two fixtures. While HAOK Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) will be facing Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT), Final Four tournament hosts SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (AUT) and bottom-of-the-table VKP BRATISLAVA (SVK) will be locking horns at Bleiburg.
