And there it is - the decisive, final point. The winners of the MEVZA zonal event held this past weekend in Innsbruck are now known! On Sunday, home hero Martin Ermacora, a native of Tyrol, raised his clenched fist in the air in triumph and exuberantly embraced his partner Philipp Waller. The stands did shake with the cheers of the crowd. In the background, the backdrop of the iconic Nordkette with the first fresh snow on the mountain peaks.

“This is the most beautiful victory of my life,” said Ermacora, who secured first place at the Innsbruck BeachEvent on Sunday. It is as if someone had written the plot for this final day before. “What a happy ending,” said LOC chief Simon Varges, whose relief and joy were obvious on his face.

With the final matches of the TEN31 Bank Innsbruck BeachEvent MEVZA tournament, the win2day Beach Volleyball Tour PRO 2023 was concluded on Sunday. The Marktplatz was a more than worthy location and from an Austrian point of view, the tournament with MASTERS status could hardly have gone any better. In the men’s competition all medals went to local duos, whereas in the women’s tournament, there was bronze for Austria through Magdalena Rabitsch and Anja Trailovic. At the end of the day, Slovenia’s Ziva Javornik/Maja Marolt and local hero Martin Ermacora with Philipp Waller were beaming from the top of the podium.

The women's competition ended with gold for Slovenia, silver for Hungary and bronze for Austria
