About

U17 European Championship - Women is the continental championship for national teams consisting of players under the age of 17 throughout the calendar year of the final round. It takes place every other year. The hosting teams are directly qualified among the 12 finalists. All other national teams of European countries can take part in the qualification process. The Youth European Championship was first held in 1995 and continued to take place under that name through 2013. The 2015 and 2017 editions were named U18 European Championships and as of 2018 the age limit was changed from 18 to 17 and the competition adopted its current name, U17 European Championship.

Russia have won the highest number of titles in the history of the competition. They claimed the gold medals four times, including the three most recent trophies – in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
