As many as 15 Future events have been confirmed already for the early stages of a highly anticipated 2025 Beach Volleyball season, which is due to get underway in late April with a double-gender event in Valencia, Spain, followed by another 14 up until the end of June. The impressive figures reflect the continuous growth of the sport, fuelled by a highly successful 2024 campaign with highlights including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2024 held in the Netherlands.
The action will begin on April 30 in Valencia, where an international Beach Volleyball competition returns for the first time in many years – as the Spanish city did host the elite European Championship a way back in 2007. The double-gender event at Passeig de Neptú will be followed by single-gender Futures on consecutive weeks on Spanish soil as well, namely at the Parque Deportivo Puerta de Hierro in Madrid.
At the same time as the men’s competition in Madrid, which for many years coincided with the season opener in Europe, a double-gender event will run from May 8-11 in Cervia, with the Beach Pro Tour returning for yet another stop at this popular seaside resort on the shores of the Adriatic Sea.
Later in May, another double-gender tournament will be taking place for the third straight year in Spiez, Switzerland, with the home teams certainly hoping to make the home-court advantage count as they have done previously. Towards the end of the same month, Beach Volleyball teams will have the opportunity to contest another Future in Battipaglia, southern Italy, where an event of this calibre is organised for the second straight season after a highly successful international premiere coinciding with a WEVZA zonal event held there in 2023.
June is filled with even opportunities for more established as well as up-and-coming teams to test their skills on the international stage, with as many as three events all running from June 5-8 in Sveti Vlas (Bulgaria), Krakow (Poland), and Prague (Czechia). Krakow will host a men’s competition that weekend followed by a women’s-only tournament a week later (12-15) when a historic men’s-only event will be taking place in Malmö, Sweden, the country of reigning Olympic champions David Åhman/Jonatan Hellvig and of many other young, highly talented teams.
Later in the month, three events will run concurrently in Messina (Italy), Ios (Greece), and Geneva (Switzerland), all familiar stops and venues for Beach Volleyball teams and fans alike. The event in Geneva has grown further compared to 2024, when it was a men’s-only competition. This time, men and women will be taking to the court on consecutive weeks instead, thus further raising the popularity and exposure of the sport in this area of Beach Volleyball powerhouse Switzerland.
With more events due to follow in the second half of 2025, the Beach Volleyball season looks like a truly electrifying whirlwind of activity! The major highlight will be the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2025 scheduled for late July and early August in Düsseldorf, Germany, at the iconic Rochusclub.
