Spain confirm women’s teams for #CEVContinentalCup event on home sand

The CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup event in Madrid started on Wednesday with the official presentation of the two Spanish teams due to contest the women’s competition at the Puerta de Hierro Sports Centre in Madrid from May 6 to 9, 2021. Team Spain want to shine, especially as they play on home soil. Paula Soria and Belén Carro on one side and Ángela Lobato and Amaranta Fernández will be the two Spanish couples trying to keep the Olympic dream alive.

Ángela Lobato and Amaranta Fernández start their fifth season together as the Spanish national champions from 2019. 

The President of the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation (RFEVB), Agustín Martín Santos, the President of the Volleyball Federation of Madrid, Felipe Pascual along with Sofía Miranda, Councillor for Sports of the City of Madrid, as well as Bojana Bogicevic-Dukic, CEV Supervisor, all attended the event held on Wednesday to coincide with the official launch of the Continental Cup.

The authorities began the presentation with a visit to the facilities of the impressive Puerta de Hierro Sports Park with Elsa Baquerizo and the members of Team Spain. The centre court now bears the name of Spanish Beach Volleyball star Elsa Baquerizo – a two-time Olympian and three-time EuroBeachVolley medallist.

“The Continental Cup in Madrid is one more example of our commitment to sport, to combine elite and grassroots level. These players are an example for our young girls, and we want them to leave a legacy to the youth of Madrid.”
