The Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures Madrid 2026 came to an end this Sunday at the Parque Deportivo Puerta de Hierro with an all-Spanish final that confirmed the outstanding level currently being shown by Spanish Beach Volleyball. Tania Moreno and Sofía Izuzquiza claimed the title after defeating Belén Carro and Paula Soria in straight sets (21-19, 21-14), thereby securing their first international title together.
The final began at a very high level, with both pairs showing strong defensive consistency and long rallies from the opening points. The first small advantage came through a powerful attack from Tania Moreno, giving her pair an 8-6 lead, although Belén Carro and Paula Soria responded immediately to level the score at 8-8. Moreno and Izuzquiza managed to create separation midway through the opening set thanks to Tania’s defensive work and Sofía Izuzquiza’s effectiveness in attack. Nevertheless, Carro and Paula remained fully competitive throughout and managed to equalise once again at 16-16. The decisive moments of the set ultimately favoured Moreno and Izuzquiza, whose composure and precision proved crucial. A strong attack from Moreno earned the first set point, and the Madrid player herself closed the set with a delicate touch for 21-19.
The second set followed a similar pattern initially, although Moreno and Izuzquiza quickly established a more consistent advantage during the early side changes. Unforced errors from their opponents, combined with Tania Moreno’s excellent serving, allowed the Madrid pair to gradually extend the lead to 16-12. From that point onward, their control of the match became increasingly evident. Two consecutive aces by Moreno effectively decided the final and brought the title within reach. The first championship point arrived following a long attack from Belén Carro, before Sofía Izuzquiza sealed the victory with the final attack for 21-14.
Earlier in the day, the bronze medal match saw Denmark’s Clara Windeleff/Elisabeth Mellmølle defeat Ana Vergara and Sofía González in straight sets (21-16, 21-11). The opening set of the third-place match remained balanced during the early stages, but the Danish pair gradually opened a gap thanks to their attacking efficiency and strong serving. Vergara and González managed to reduce the deficit to 12-11 midway through the set, but several attacking errors allowed Denmark to regain control and close the set 21-16. The second set began with greater difficulties for the Spanish pair, who quickly fell behind 3-0. Although Vergara and González attempted to respond and reduced the deficit at different moments of the set, the consistency of Windeleff/Mellmølle and the accumulated physical fatigue of the Spaniards ultimately proved decisive. The Danish pair managed the advantage comfortably before securing third place in the tournament.
With these results, the Beach Pro Tour Futures Madrid 2026 concludes with an outstanding collective performance from Spanish Beach Volleyball, which placed two pairs in the big final and another one among the top four teams of the tournament.
