A Weekend Full Of Victories For Champions League Volley Teams

CEV Men's Champions League Volley teams won the matches they played in the domestic leagues this weekend.

 

The defending CEV Champions League Volley titleholder Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle faced Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the ninth round of the Polish Men’s PlusLiga. After a first set that lasted 74 points, ZAKSA broke down their opponent's resistance and managed to win the clash without losing any sets (3-0: 38-36, 25-13, 25-14).

Thus, ZAKSA took their tenth victory in ten games and maintained their lead in the charts. Polish star Lukasz Kaczmarek was highlighted with 22 points and selected as the MVP of the match, while Dawid Konarski was the only player to score double digits with 15 points in the Zawiercie, who got their second defeat in the league.

 

This weekend, the 2021 Russian Cup Final Four participants also became clear: Together with the CEV Cup squad Zenit Kazan, the country's CEV Champions League Volley representatives, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Novosibirsk finished their groups as leaders without receiving any defeats. Therefore, these three teams were advanced to the Final Four, alongside the host Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The most anticipating encounter of the week was between Belgium's two CEV Champions League Volley participants, VC Greenyard Maaseik and Knack Roeselare. In the battle that will determine the leader of the EuroMillions League, the host Maaseik overpowered their rival after five sets (3-2: 20-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 15-12).

 

Ferre Reggers showed an outstanding performance in the clash with 23 points, while Michiel Ahyi's 20 points were not enough for the win on the Roeselare's side.

Fenerbahce HDI Istanbul and Ziraat Bankasi Ankara, the Turkish teams of the CEV Champions League Volley, won their challenges in the tenth round of the Turkish Efeler League by 3-0 and preserved their second and third places respectively, just right behind the Challenge Cup team Halkbank Ankara.

 

Other teams who kept their perfect record by becoming victorious in national leagues were Berlin Recycling Volleys in Germany and Hebar Pazardzhik in Bulgaria.
