Alireza Toloo Kian named new Head Coach and Technical Director of London Giants

London Giants Volleyball Club is proud to announce the appointment of Alireza Toloo Kian as Head Coach and Technical Director ahead of the 2026/2027 season. Toloo Kian will serve as Head Coach of the club’s Men’s and Women’s Super League teams, as well as its U18 boys’ and girls’ teams. As Technical Director, he will also oversee the wider coaching and player-development programme across the club.

He arrives in London with more than 20 years of experience across elite club and international Volleyball. Toloo Kian has worked extensively within Iran’s national-team programme, across both senior and age-group Volleyball, building an impressive career at the highest levels of the international game.

Throughout his career, he has contributed to teams competing at major international competitions, including the Volleyball Nations League, Asian Championships, Asian Games and age-group World Championships. His achievements include World Championship titles at U19 and U21 level, alongside Asian titles with Iran’s senior men’s, women’s and junior national teams.

At club level, he has worked with several leading teams in the Iranian Men’s Super League, including Paykan Tehran, Kalleh Mazandaran and Shahrdari Varamin.

For me, this is a new experience and an exciting challenge, and I am highly motivated to begin this journey. I feel that the club has a clear vision and that everything is being managed with great organisation and professionalism. I am very interested in contributing to the development and growth of the club and helping Volleyball continue to grow, while supporting the club on its journey towards becoming an even more professional organisation. The management has developed a very good plan for the future, and I truly appreciate the trust they have placed in me. I hope that, through hard work, dedication and close cooperation with all my colleagues at the club, we can achieve success together. I am looking forward to working with the players, coaches, staff and management, and I hope we can create something special together.”

Historic finish with Iran women 

Toloo Kian arrives in London following a historic campaign with the Iran Women’s National Team at the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Championship in Tianjin, China.

Under his direction, Iran reached the Asian Championship semi-finals for the first time in the history of the women’s national team, following a 3-1 quarterfinal victory over Indonesia. Iran ultimately finished fourth in Asia, the country’s highest-ever finish in the competition, after facing China in the semi-final and Japan in the bronze-medal match.

The landmark result provides an exciting backdrop to Toloo Kian’s arrival in London as he begins his new role ahead of London Giants’ 2026/2027 campaign.

His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for London Giants and for the wider Volleyball community in England.
