Poland's Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in front of the home crowd at RCWS Podpromie showed no mercy to SVG Luneburg and earned the second straight-set win  in the final of the CEV Volleyball Cup 2024 to lift the trophy. It's the first trophy won by Resovia at the European stage.

Last week Asseco Resovia Rzeszów secured a convincing 3-0 victory against SVG Luneburg in Germany, so to claim the awaited title they needed to win two sets. However, cheered by 4300 fans at Podpromie, the team around coach Giampaolo Medei struggled at the beginning of the match, committing - unexpectedly - many own mistakes. Erik Rohrs and Xander Ketrzynski were leaders of Luneburg (6 points apiece), who set the bar high for Resovia in the opener. Despite little difficulties, the experienced Resovia squad found their way to prevail in extra time 27-25.

Luneburg tried their best to keep their chances alive, but they had no chance against Resovia's powerful block. Poland's side recorded 7 killing blocks - 3 of them were masterpieces of Karol Kłos. Stephan Boyer was a point leader for Resovia, but it was Poland's middle blocker who was the one to score the most valuable point, as his block stuff closed the second set to start an early-celebration. Having the trophy in their pocket, Resovia with a refreshed line-up kept the momentum, closing the game in three sets. Thus, they earned the CEVCupM trophy without dropping a single set in the final games.

French opposite Stephan Boyer scored match-high 14 points, despite playing only in two first sets. He recorded 10 winning spikes (71% success in attack) along with 4 block stuffs, earning a well-deserved MVP award.
