This weekend, the most anticipated clash of the week took place in Russia: Two CEV Champions League Volley participants, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk and Dinamo Moscow, met in the 16th round of the Russian Superleague.

There was an immense battle from beginning to end between these two; however, after the five-set-thriller, which lasted about 2 hours, the Lokomotiv side overpowered their rival by 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-10).

With the victory, Lokomotiv took their thirteenth win in fourteen matches, while Moscow suffered their third defeat.

Serbian opposite Drazen Luburic on the winning side and Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov for Moscow became the top scorers of the derby with 15 points apiece. However, it should be said that both teams did not perform well on the service line: 26 from Lokomotiv and 28 from Moscow, there were a total of 54 service errors in five sets.

The reigning SuperFinalist Itas Trentino faced Leo Shoes PerkinElmer in the 20th week of the Italian SuperLega. The hosts Trentino side started quite strong and found 2-0 in sets; however, Modena showed an outstanding performance in the last three sets and won the match thanks to their huge comeback (2-3: 25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 18-25, 13-15).

Dutch star of the winning side, Nimir Abdel-Aziz, highlighted with his 28 points, including seven aces and two blocks. Italian young outside hitter Daniele Lavia scored 17 for Trentino, but that was not enough for the victory.

Other CEV Champions League Volley squads of the country Cucine Lube Civitanova and Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia easily beat their opponents by a clear score of 3-0.

Bad days continue for the Polish representative of the CEV Champions League Volley, Projekt Warszawa. They took their fourth consecutive defeat in their domestic league after being overcome by PGE Skra Belchatow this weekend.

The other CEV Champions League Volley teams, Berlin Recycling Volleys in Germany, Sport Lisboa e Benfica in Portugal, Ziraat Bankasi Ankara, and Fenerbahce HDI Istanbul in Turkey finished the week with comfortable wins in their national leagues.

CEV Champions League Volley representatives had no difficulties in winning their clashes this weekend in domestic leagues, except Trentino in Italy and Dinamo Moscow in the big match of the week against Lokomotiv.
