The Turkish superpowers Fenerbahce and Eczacibasi said goodbye to the #CLVolleyW in the semifinal stage, and they turned their eyes to the Final Four of the domestic cup this weekend. Similarly, the victors of the semifinals, Imoco and Milano, took the court for the last time in the regular season, and one of them suffered an unexpected defeat.

The Final Four rounds of the Turkish Cup took place this weekend between the top four squads of the country. In the first semifinal match, which was held on Saturday, Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul faced THY Istanbul. With a superior performance throughout the game, Fenerbahce became the first Finalist by 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20).

There was a huge fight between Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul and VakifBank Istanbul in the second semifinal. The former started the match quite powerful and found a 2-0 lead in sets. However, showing great ambition and determination, VakifBank side managed to extend the game to the tie-break. In the last set, Eczacibasi simply played a better game and booked their place in the Final with a five-set victory (3-2: 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 24-26, 15-12).

In the final game on Sunday, two #CLVolleyW semifinalists faced off. Despite the second set, the Fenerbahce side clearly dominated the match from the last ball to the last and became the champions of this year’s Turkish Cup with a victory by a score of 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 25-17, 25-20).

Melissa Vargas, the Turkish superstar of the winning side, was honored with the MVP award, mostly thanks to her 19-point performance. Russian outside hitter Arina Fedorovtseva (18 points, including two aces) and her compatriot Irina Fetisova (10 points, including three blocks and one ace) also helped their team win the top of the podium. Serbian superstar Tijana Boskovic’s 18 points were not enough on the losing side.

The main season of the Italian Serie A1 Women was completed with the 26th round. The SuperFinalist A. Carraro Imoco Volley Conegliano visited Uyba Volley Busto Arsizio, and they became victorious in four sets (3-1: 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19). Four of the players scored in double digits on the winning side, but Federica Squarcini (17 points, including six blocks) and the MVP Alessia Gennari (16 points, including one ace and two blocks) stood out more.

The second SuperFinalist of the CEV Champions League Women, Allianz Vero Volley Milano, could not complete the regular phase as they wanted: They met Megabox Ond. Savio Vallefoglia in their last game but left the court with an unexpected defeat in straight sets (3-0: 25-27, 19-25, 22-25).

With a perfect record of 26-0, the Imoco side completed the regular season in the top place and took the advantage in the playoff round. Savino Del Bene Scandicci (22-4) and Milano (21-5) were the other teams in the top three, respectively.

While we have already started waiting for the SuperFinals, the top teams will continue encountering important clashes in their countries. This weekend, Fenerbahce and Imoco received what they wished for, but this was not the case for Milano and Eczacibasi. We will see what this week will bring to the most elite squads of the continent.
