This weekend, two Polish PlusLiga finalists were determined, and as expected, the biggest favorite, Jastrzebski, booked their place in the finals with a huge victory over Rzeszow in the tie-break. Meanwhile, the playoff finals continued in Italy and Germany, resulting in victories of Monza and BR Volleys.

This year’s CEV Champions League Volley SuperFinalist, Jastrzebski Wegiel, took the court against Asseco Resovia Rzeszow in the rematch of the Polish PlusLiga semifinals. Both teams pushed their limits very hard, and the game was extended to the tie-break, just like the previous one. At the determining set, Jastrzebski side managed to play better at the end, advancing to the final round with a massive victory by 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 25-27, 29-27, 15-13).

French opposite Jean Patry became the top scorer of the clash with 25 points in total and was selected as the MVP of the game. Polish superstars Tomasz Fornal (23 points) and Rafal Szymura (18 points) also showed worth-mentioning performances. Klemen Cebulj’s 22 points were not enough for Rzeszow. Jastrzebski will face Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, the vice-champions of the regular season, in the playoff final round.

Everything will start from the stretch in Italy: In the rematch of a 3-1 defeat, Mint Vero Volley Monza faced Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia in the Italian SuperLega playoff finals. Both teams had ups and downs throughout the game, but the Monza side extended the match to a decisive tie-break. At this point, Monza continued to play their superior game and won the match in five sets (3-2: 25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-11).

Including four blocks and one ace, Canadian outside hitter Stephen Maar was the most productive player with 28 points, which made him the Most Valuable Player. Wilfredo Leon tallied 24, and Wassim Ben Tara scored 20 points on the Perugia side.

The champions of the regular season, Berlin Recycling Volleys, fell 2-0 behind against VfB Friedrichshafen in the German 1. Bundesliga playoff finals. Everything depended on the third game for BR Volleys, and they finally received their first victory to keep their national goals alive (3-1: 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 25-15). Timothee Carle stood out with 23 points on the winning side, followed by Marek Sotola with 17.

The Polish playoff final stage will start in two days, and we will be able to watch what the SuperFinalist Jastrzebski could bring into the court. Likewise, things are getting more challenging now in Italy and Germany, as the losing sides took the rematches at the weekend. We will see which clubs will complete the season with the gold medal in the top leagues of the continent.
